Donor Bill of Rights
The ten rights every donor to ImpactMatrix Foundation can expect — based on the standardized U.S. nonprofit Donor Bill of Rights.
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the nonprofit organizations and causes they are asked to support, ImpactMatrix Foundation declares that all donors have these rights.
The ten rights of every donor
To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
To be informed of the identity of those servingon the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization, or hired solicitors.
To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.
How ImpactMatrix Foundation upholds these rights
Mission transparency
The Foundation’s mission, programs, founders, and Board-directed funding priorities are published on our website and in every donor communication. We do not change the stated use of funds without notifying the donor when the gift is restricted.
Governance and financial transparency
Our Board of Directors, founding leadership, and senior staff are identified publicly. Once the Foundation is recognized as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS, our annual Form 990 will be publicly available through the IRS, GuideStar/Candid, and on request. Audited financial statements, when prepared, will be made available to donors upon written request.
Restricted gifts honored
Donors may earmark gifts to one of three Board-directed funding priorities — Technology Coordination Tools, the Tocqueville Civic Project, or Cross-Sector Relationship Grants. Restricted gifts are tracked separately and reported back to the donor on request.
No admin fees on direct nonprofit donations
Acknowledgment and tax records
Every donation receives a written acknowledgment suitable for U.S. tax purposes, typically within seven (7) business days. Donors receive an annual giving summary in January for the prior calendar year.
Donor privacy and list policy
We do not sell, rent, or trade donor lists. Donors may request anonymity in public recognition materials at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Professional, truthful fundraising
Foundation staff and authorized representatives identify themselves clearly. We do not use hired commission-based solicitors. Donors are free to ask any question — about programs, finances, governance, or impact — and to expect prompt, truthful answers.
Questions or concerns
If you believe any of these rights has not been honored, please contact us. We will respond promptly and work to make it right.
